Inspiration
Use inspiration as a practical tool: steal tone, procedures, and motifs you can run at the table tonight.
At-a-Glance
- Use Caves of Qud, Blame!, and Book of the New Sun as core tone anchors.
- Pull one conflict seed from dystopian media and one wonder seed from mythic media each prep cycle.
- Translate media beats into table procedures using Game Systems, Exploration, and Dungeons.
- Keep references additive: one clear influence per mission usually beats five mixed vibes.
Player Quick Rules (Tone at the Table)
- Describe one sensory detail and one social tension in each new scene.
- Ask for concrete stakes before engaging strange tech or rituals.
- Keep language grounded: specific nouns, short verbs, visible consequences.
- Treat wonder and dread as alternating pulses, not constant noise.
Referee Procedure Loop (Inspiration-to-Play)
- Pick one primary source and one contrast source.
- Extract three playable motifs (location, pressure, reward).
- Map motifs to a mission site and a faction agenda.
- Add one procedural hook (clock, table, or turn trigger).
- Run session and note what motifs landed.
- Keep or rotate motifs for next prep cycle.

Advanced/Edge Cases
- If your table tone drifts generic, lock one session to a single source cluster and ban cross-genre inserts.
