Pick your engine, then run turns fast. This page surfaces table-ready defaults first and sends you to deeper rules only when needed.

At-a-Glance

Player Quick Rules (B/X-Compatible)

  • Declare intent before rolling: what you want, what risk you accept, what tool you use.
  • Assume 10-minute exploration turns in dungeons unless the table has a stronger local procedure.
  • Track light, ammo, rations, and salvage slots as real constraints.
  • Retreat is a valid action; extraction is usually the real victory condition.

Referee Procedure Loop (Default Session Engine)

  1. Frame situation and immediate threat.
  2. Ask each player for intent and method.
  3. Resolve uncertainty with the lightest fitting mechanic.
  4. Advance time and consumables.
  5. Roll or choose world response (hazard, encounter, faction move).
  6. Surface new choices and repeat.

Use Dungeon Adventuring OSE SRD, Wilderness Adventuring OSE SRD, and Waterborne Adventuring OSE SRD to plug in environment-specific variants.
